The aims of the LET are "To encourage, oversee and, where appropriate, assist in the funding of education in 'Lighting' at all levels and thereby develop the overall standards of lighting practice in the UK"(About the LET and Sponsorship)

The Trust's activities includes the accreditation and promotion of a distance learning course, leading to the award of the "Lighting Education Trust's Diploma in Lighting" and support for the Bartlett School of Architecture (UCL) "MSc in Lighting Course".
